Is My Foundation Good For Me?
Everyone has their own preferences for which makeup products they want to use on their skin. Everyone’s skin is different and will react differently to
different products. I know I used different way too many times in that sentence but I’m just stating facts. Everyone has their own unique skin.
different products. I know I used different way too many times in that sentence but I’m just stating facts. Everyone has their own unique skin.
However, many of us do suffer from acne. Our dermatologists or even close friends and families will tell us that it’s probably the products we are applying to our faces. I think that it’s really important to know what’s in your makeup/skincare products and it’s also important to know which ingredients you should avoid.
I’m a huge fan of makeup. I love dressing up and making myself look pretty fierce when I go out LOL. But I know that some products I use can be affecting my skin. Today, I’m going to give the people that struggle with acne, just like me, some tips and tricks of picking the right foundation that will help our skin and also make us feel beautiful as well.
What ingredients should be in foundations for acne-prone skin?
Like I mentioned, many of us do suffer from acne. But we also like dressing up and putting makeup on to give ourselves that confidence we want. However, there could be a chance that that is making it worse for our skin.
The best foundations are:
· Ones that are noncomedogenic (non-pore clogging)
· Liquid foundations with low concentration of salicylic acid (helps with acne)
· Include Vitamin A and E
· Mineral Infused
The ingredients you should avoid in foundations are:
· Isopropyl Alcohol (damages skin’s protective surface, resulting in oily skin)
· Fragrance
· Parabens
· Lead (yes, I know crazy. But some still include it in their foundations)
Best products for you
You know which ingredients you should avoid and which ingredients you should look for. Now, I’m going to share some foundation brands that are known to be great for not just acne-prone skin but anyone who wants to have healthier skin. Not only are they helpful for your skin, but some are also really affordable.
1. BareMinerals Blemish Rescue Loose Powder Foundation: $29. It contains acne-fighting ingredients like zinc, sulfur, kaolin clay, and salicylic acid as well as ingredients like oat protein to calm any irritation.
2. Maybelline Fit me Matte+Poreless Liquid Foundation: $7.99!! Great coverage, buildable and extremely affordable. This product is oil-free which is exactly what acne-prone people need.
3. Neutrogena SkinCleaning Oil-Free Makeup: $13.99!! This product is dermatologist recommended. It contains salicylic acid and ALOE VERA to soothe inflammation.
4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation: $36. I know that this is a little bit on the pricy side, but this is a great powder foundation for acne-prone skin. It contains kaolin clay which absorbs excess oil, green tea which soothes the skin, while caffeine perks it up.
These are just some of the products that not only satisfy the need for putting makeup on but also helps the skin underneath. There are so many other products that can be great for you. Like I said, everyone’s skin is different so different products will work but it may not work for others. You just need to look for the right ingredients and make sure you stay away from the harmful ones!
Talk to you soon!
